Interchangeable Parts FAQ – 92-00 Civics and 94-01 Integras

NOTE: 92-95 Civics and 94-01 Integras are built on the same chassis. As a result of this, many parts (including engines, suspension, seats and other interior pieces, etc.) can easily be swapped between the two.

Brakes

Any of the following disk brake setups and parts will bolt onto any 92-00 Civic:

  • The 5 lug x 114.3 97-01 Integra Type R setup
  • The 4 lug x 114.3 95-96 Integra Type R setup
  • Any 94-01 Integra disk brake setup (RS, LS, GS, GS-R,etc.)
  • The 4 lug x 100 99-00 Civic Si setup
  • Rear trailing arms from (92-95 Civic EX/Si, 93-97 Del Sol Si/VTEC, 96-00 Civic EX/Si, 94-01 Integra All)
  • Upper control arm (92-95 Civic EX/Si, 93-97 Del Sol Si/VTEC, 96-00 Civic EX/Si, 94-01 Integra All)
  • Compensator arms at the front end of the trailing arms (92-95 Civic EX/Si, 93-97 Del Sol Si/VTEC, 96-00 Civic EX/Si, 94-01 Integra All)
  • Rotors, brake calipers, and brackets (92-95 Civic EX/Si, 93-97 Del Sol Si/VTEC, 96-00 Civic EX/Si, 94-01 Integra All)
  • Brake pads and shims (92-95 Civic EX/Si, 93-97 Del Sol Si/VTEC, 96-00 Civic EX/Si, 94-01 Integra All)
  • Parking brake cables (92-95 Civic EX/Si, 93-97 Del Sol Si/VTEC, 96-00 Civic EX/Si, 94-01 Integra All)
  • Brake booster, brake master cylinder, and proportioning valve (92-95 Civic EX/Si, 93-97 Del Sol Si/VTEC, 96-00 Civic EX/Si, 94-01 Integra All)

Engines/Engine Parts

B-Series

  • B-Series heads and blocks are almost always interchangeable. The only exception would be the B20A and B21A motors found in the 88-91 Preludes; you cannot swap VTEC heads onto the B20A/B21 like you can with all other non-VTEC or VTEC B-Series motors
  • Almost all parts are interchangeable between DOHC VTEC motors, with the exception of the B18C GSR and B16A2 from the 99-00 Civic Si Coupe. The GSR and Si use different intake manifolds that are not compatible with any other DOHC VTEC engine swaps
  • The B16A and B18C5 (or JDM B18C Type R) motors are very similar; the only differences are in the crank and other internals, plus the Type R motors have a factory port and polish job on the head
  • Any B-Series engine will bolt up to any 92-00 Civic using the Civic’s factory mounts, with the exception of a GSR or Si rear mount

D-Series

  • All D-Series intake and exhaust manifolds are interchangeable
  • D16Z6 timing belts, tensioners, rear crank seals, and oil pumps can be used on D15B7 and D16A6 engines
  • D16Z6 and D16Y8 timing belts can be interchanged, despite different part numbers (Z6 belts tend to be cheaper than the newer Y8 belts)
  • D15Z1, D16Y7, D16Y8, and D16Z6 valve covers are all interchangeable
  • D16Y7 and D16Y8 oil pans are NOT interchangeable (the Y7 is made of baffled steel and the Y8 is made of non-baffled aluminum)
  • All 88-00 D-Series distributors are interchangeable with the exception of the Z6, Z1, and D15B
  • The majority of non-VTEC D-Series blocks will accept D-Series VTEC heads. This is called a “Mini-Me” Conversion. You will also need an appropriate ECU to complete the conversion.

Exterior/Interior Pieces

Exterior

  • All 92-95 Civic Coupe and Hatchback hoods are interchangeable
  • 92-95 Civic Coupe/Hatchback hoods are NOT interchangeable with 92-95 Sedan hoods
  • All 92-95 Civic headlights are interchangeable
  • All 92-95 Civic Coupe and Sedan tail lights are interchangeable; hatchback tail lights are different
  • 92-95 Civic Coupe/Hatchback/Sedan sideskirts are all different
  • 92-95 Civic Coupe and Hatchback carpets are slightly different, but close enough that they can be swapped between the two
  • All 96-98 Civic Coupe, Hatchback, and Sedan hoods are interchangeable
  • All 99-00 Civic Coupe, Hatchback, and Sedan hoods are interchangeable
  • 96-98 Civic front-ends are different than 99-00 front-ends; parts will not exchange between them without modification
  • The sideskirts on 96-00 Civic Coupes and Hatchbacks are the same size and can be exchanged; the sedan’s sideskirts are a different length and will not work on Coupes/Hatchbacks
  • The rear bumpers on all 99-00 Civic Coupes and Sedans are completely interchangeable.
  • The tail lights on any 96-00 Civic Coupe are interchangeable (so yes, you CAN swap the 99-00 red/clear-style tail lights onto your 96, 97, or 98 model coupe); the tail lights on the 96-98 Sedan however, are shaped differently than the 99-00 Sedan tail lights and cannot be swapped; the Hatchback uses a different set of tail lights altogether and cannot be swapped with anything else
  • 96-98 Civic front-ends can be swapped to the 99-00 style with some modification; a conversion would require the hood, front bumper, fenders, headlights, and a radiator support; the radiator support from the 96-98 can also be modified to accept the 99-00 front end pieces

Interior

  • The 99-00 Civic Si steering wheel can be bolted on to any 96-00 Civic
  • Shift knobs from any 92-00 Civic or 94-01 Integra are compatible with any Civic/Integra submodels
  • 94-01 Integra front seats are a bolt-in modification for 92-95 Civics; for 96-00 Civics you will need to swap the seat rails over from the Civic seats to make it work
  • 94-01 Integra Hatchback/Sedan rear seats will fit into their 92-95 Civic Coupe/Hatchback/Sedan counterparts; the backs bolt in and the bottoms require slight modification

Gauge Clusters

  • All 92-95 Civic gauge clusters will plug into any model 92-95 Civic
  • All 96-00 Civic gauge clusters will plug into any model 96-00 Civic
  • All 94-01 Integra gauge clusters will plug into any model 94-01 Integra
  • Gauge cluster swaps between any of the three models will require customization

Suspension Components

  • Shocks and springs are completely interchangeable between 92-00 Civics and 94-01 Integras; the only difference between Civic and Integra springs is the spring rates. Also, the lower control arm bushing that connects the LCA to the shock absorber on the 96-00 Civics is significantly thinner than the bushing found on the 92-95 Civics/94-01 Integras. In order to swap components between the two, the bushing will either need to be ground down or replaced (if using 96-00 shocks on 92-95 Civic/94-01 Integra LCAs) or you will need to use spacers (if using 92-95 Civic/94-01 Integra shocks on 96-00 Civic LCAs)
  • As was previously mentioned, the only difference between Civic and Integra shocks is the spring rates. There is also some slight variation within spring rates among the various submodels of Civics:
  • 92-00 Civic Coupes/Sedans have the same spring rate, front and rear
  • 92-00 Civic Hatchbacks have the same front spring rate as the Coupes/Sedans
  • 92-95 Civic Hatchbacks have a different rear spring rate than the Coupes/Sedans/96-00 Hatchbacks
  • 96-00 Civic Hatchbacks have a different rear spring rate than the Coupes/Sedans/92-95 Hatchbacks
  • Integras have altogether different spring rates from any of the Civic models
  • The rear trailing arms from all 92-00 Civics, all 93-97 Del Sols, and all 90-01 Integras are identical (minus the hub assembly), and can easily be swapped between any of those vehicles
  • Lower tie bars made for 92-95 Civics/94-01 Integras will NOT fit 96-00 Civics
